Choreographers put moves to today’s most popular songs or even put a creative spin on an old classic or two. Then, the whole team must learn the steps and perform a synchronized routine. All while in some sort of costume. All while maintaining a smile. 

Regardless of the discipline, every routine at this level is impressive.

Competitive Dance Is About More Than Just Winning

Not everyone is going to win, but if a performance gets you moving to the beat or has you in awe of the talent level, the team was successful. 

For the performers, there’s satisfaction in completing a successful routine and working together as a team. At this point in the year, it’s the culmination of a lot of hard work, passion, twists, turns, falls, camaraderie, growth, resilience, travel, dedication and faith in each other.

Being able to perform under the bright lights is great for building confidence, too. Doing it with friends and teammates is great for building relationships and memories. 

And, win or lose, there are countless life lessons for the dancers. 

The Look And Feel 

For most of the performances at Dance Worlds, the team might spend as much time on what they wear and how they look as they do on coming up with their routines. 

The way they dress shows uniformity, but it also can introduce another visual representation of the lyrics/music or serve as a nod to the original artist or performer. 

The uniforms can be glamorous and over the top or simply express the attitude or mood of the piece. 

There’s just a fluidity to it all, and being able to perform some of the moves they do in those costumes and uniforms is even more impressive. 

It’s Inspirationally Inclusive

Within any team on stage, you’re going to see performers of all shapes and sizes, male and female, coming together because of a shared love of movement and performing. 

You’ll have a front-row seat to the friendship and camaraderie and the satisfaction of nailing a performance after months and months of practice.
