It's no secret that cheerleading is very different from most athletic activities, which is why it comes with its own dictionary of secret lingo that's foreign to the average person. 

Here are five terms you can expect to hear from allstar cheerleaders in 2016.


YAS

exclamation
1. Positive affirmation that a team or athlete is really working it; a term that indicates excitement!
"YAS, girl! That stunt was amazing!"



Mat Talk

verb
1. To speak words of encouragement to teammates while on the mat
"I'm having a hard time landing my running tumbling pass. Will you mat talk for me in the next full out?"



Push

verb
1. To persevere in the face of difficulty, obstacles, or challenges
"My ankle hurts, but I'm pushing."



Sickening

 adjective
1. Incredibly amazing
"That stunt is sickening."



Tea

adjective
1. Perfect or flawless
"Her jumps are tea."
