In her own words, Whitney gave us the inside scoop on her impressive career and her and Jonah's love story--check it out below.
Career credentials
During my all star career, I cheered for Kentucky Elite All Stars and completed my super-senior year at Twist and Shout on Obsession. I then cheered in college on the large coed team at Oklahoma State University for five years until I graduated in 2016.

The family legacy
I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, where most of my family still lives. My dad, Marc, is an optometrist, and my mom, Debbie, started her career as a gymnastics coach, but transitioned into a highly respected coach in the cheer industry because of her knowledge in tumbling, conditioning, and sports psychology. She travels around the world to teach.
All six kids (me being the second-youngest) were home-schooled by my mother, and spent six to seven hours a day at a gymnastics or cheer gym--they used to call us "gym rats" because we were there all night. My brother, Jon, is the oldest child and the only boy out of the six. Marci, Christi, Tiffany, myself, and Britni all followed. We began gymnastics as early as we could, and made it to levels 8, 9, and 10.
My brother started cheerleading late in high school, and took it further by cheering at the University of Kentucky. He initiated the whole family to take on cheerleading, and at one point, we all had a roundoff backhandspring double full.
My parents and three older sisters still live in Kentucky, my brother lives in Georgia, and my younger sister and I now live in Oklahoma. Even though we live in different spots, our relationship continues to grow closer, and it's something I'm very thankful to be a part of.
Cheering for America's brightest orange
I started my freshman year in the fall semester of 2011. Being so far away from home after being home-schooled my entire life were aspects of moving that I didn't think through completely. By the end of my first semester, I wanted to finish out my year at OSU and start my sophomore year at a school closer to home. But as the second semester went on, I was able to really see just how special OSU cheer is--its ability to unite team members together so well makes the team become a family.
The 2011-2012 season for OSU cheer was our "clean sweep" year--we won both the large coed and small coed divisions. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced. With two weeks to go until summer break, I decided to continue my education at OSU. It was the best decision I ever made. I went on to cheer four more years on large coed, where I fortunately won three more national titles, one second-place title, and was voted captain two years in a row. OSU cheer is the exact reason I'm the person I am today. The best five years of my life were the ones I spent cheering for America's brightest orange!

On the horizon
I'll continue coaching OSU cheer and possibly join an AllStar team for fun. In 2016, I was blessed with the opportunity to be on Team USA Coed Cheer and compete with the best of the best in hopes of winning the gold title, which we won! I also plan to tryout for Team USA Coed Cheer in 2017.
Continuing a cheer career
I am in love with the process a team goes through with hopes of being successful. I created my own definition of success for a cheer team. "Success is when a team finally unites together, respecting the differences in teammates, believing in each teammate to do their best, and performing every routine without any fear of making mistakes." I was lucky enough to feel this as a member of the team for five years and now I want to help others feel it. That is why I love coaching!
True love
My hubby's name is Jonah Lund, and he was born and raised in Wisconsin. Jonah is the oldest of seven children, and he majored in fire protection engineering at OSU--one of only three or four schools that offer this special degree. He cheered for one year at Sun Prairie High School, and I suppose he enjoyed it enough to try out for OSU cheer. He made large coed in May of 2012, and we started dating the first of September that year. He's the main reason I'm so thankful I stayed at OSU!

A cheer friend-filled wedding
32 former teammates attended our wedding. Considering the fact that our wedding was held in Kentucky, it was a huge deal that so many of them traveled just for us! During the reception, we would randomly breakout in shoulder stands, toss hands, toss chairs, and anything else we could think of! And you can't forget about all of us doing the fight song full out. Afterward, Jonah and I honeymooned in Aruba! It was perfect.

Jonah supports my cheer career more than anything. He is honestly the greatest and understands how important it is to me.
