Charlotte Allstars Teal Take On The Cheerleading Worlds
Charlotte All Stars Teal is excited to take the Worlds mat after earning their first full paid bid in 10 years!
Charlotte Allstars Teal are ready to complete their medal collection as they head to The Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando, FL, this weekend. Since the teams started back in 1990 by Kevin Brubaker and Julie O'Brien, Charlotte Allstars Teal have taken home a silver in 2006 and a bronze in 2011 at The Cheerleading Worlds.
Robert Burns and Brubaker have been coaching Teal together for three seasons. Burns cheered at Top Gun in Miami from 1998-2006 and was on the first team to ever do a kick full basket, so you know that Teal are being trained by the absolute best!

This is only the second year Teal have competed in the Small Coed division, but Burns said the squad has had more wins this year than in the past two seasons. This year they earned their first full paid bid to Worlds in 10 years!
"This season we really tried to push the difficulty area without compromising our technique," Burns said. "It's action packed with great entertainment value and promises to not disappoint!"

Whether it's doing multiple full outs or breaking down each section count for count, Burns said that repetition has been the key to their success this season.
"Tumbling form was a big area of improvement for us this year, trying to fix body lines in twisting skills as well as timing of their twists within the skill," Burns said. "Consistently hitting our building sections was a major focal point as well."
On top of drilling technique and mental toughness, Teal has been working on their creative elements in their routine as well. Charlotte is known for its iconic "fall back" pyramid. During Burns' first season at CAC he decided to bring it back but added a little twist. Every season since, they have created a different version of the classic pyramid.
Teal has trained all season long to improve stunt technique and consistency on the mat.
Burns is also well accustomed to the atmosphere at Worlds:
"Mental marking of routines & visualization is a big part of how the kids get prepped," Burns said. "We try to add more pressure during routines by going Live on Facebook so they feel like the world is watching. Getting them to have a calm mind but strong body is our No. 1 goal."

Talk about a pressure cooker! That high-stakes competitive energy is what hooked me back in '98!The intense environment at Worlds is something Charlotte has prepared for all season long.
