7 Words That Have A Completely Different Meaning To Flyers
Homonym: a word that has the same spelling and pronunciation but can have two different meanings. Just like in every sport, there are tons of everyday words that mean something totally different to an athlete. With the number of terms we have in cheerleading, we could fill up an entire dictionary -- with a whole section dedicated just to flyers!

1. Scale


A tool used for weighing everything from food to people.

A body position in-between an arabesque and a scorpion/needle. (In a typical stunt sequence, a flyer will usually either pull a scorpion-to-scale, or a scale-to-arabesque.)

An exercise in which you hold onto a bar above your head and then pull your body up until your chin is above the bar. (Cue flashbacks of P.E.)
