One of the hardest things to do in any sport is defend a title. To get to the top is one thing, but to stay on top is quite another, and there's no exception in Open Coed Premier Hip Hop. This division is filled to the brim with talented teams that are all capable of delivering show-stopping performances. Unlike the Elite division, which caps the number of dancers at 15, the Premier division can have up to 30. More numbers means bigger visuals, more tricks, and more of the floor covered with the freshest Hip Hop moves on the planet. Despite the division being extremely tight for a podium spot, the reigning champions have a commanding lead after Day 1.
World Wings – 2WDC took the gold in 2018 in impressive fashion, and they don’t seem to be slowing down one bit. To describe their routine as anything less than one continuous “wow” moment would be doing it an injustice. They had the hard-hitting choreography that traditionally goes hand in hand with the division; however, what was especially unique was how the team incorporated a good amount of lyrical Hip Hop to really set themselves apart. The crowd could literally be heard exclaiming in awe throughout the incredibly intricate routine. They made sure that their grip on the top spot in this division wasn’t weakened in 2019, and they’ll look to match their performance from today in Finals.
Closest to challenge World Wings was the always-incredible Top Gun All Stars – TG OHH. They served up everything that we’ve come to expect and love from a TG team. There was a tremendous amount of original choreography, and a rarely matched performance value.
Placing third after Prelims was Dance Factory, repping for Mexico. Their routine showcased a great deal of polished technique, as well as great mix of different styles within the Hip Hop genre.
Adrenaline Allstars – Fusion highlighted very strong use of slow motion moments and movements to secure the fourth after Prelims. Academia de baile Seven Dancers – Seven Dancers from Mexico also brought all of their swag to put themselves in the top five going into tomorrow. Teams from the USA, Ecuador, Germany, Colombia, Ecuador, England, and Chile will also be competing tomorrow in Finals.
The Open Coed Premier Hip Hop division will undoubtedly go down as one of the most entertaining of the 2019 Dance Worlds. The performances have all of the best aspects of Hip Hop that draws the big crowds. With everything on the line, every single team is sure to bring their A-Game. You can be sure that the fight for the podium will be lights-out, and one that you won’t want to miss!
