The first World Champion of The 2019 Dance Worlds was crowned Sunday afternoon after teams from across the globe vied for the gold medal in this incredibly prestigious division. In the end, teams from five countries made the top 10, continuing a strong international presence in this category.

The top honor went to Planets, representing from Japan. They came through to win gold after obtaining a commanding lead in Prelims, rising to the top with immaculate precision, impeccable technique, and one of the quickest routines of the entire event. From the moment they set up in perfect unison, to the very last head snap on the last beat of music, it was clear that the Planets were going to rule the globe. The team utilized their obvious attention to detail in their turn sequences, where they had an unbelievable variety of arm motions that were entirely unique to them. Congratulations to Planets for taking home the gold medal!

Taking home the bronze was the USA’s Energizers, who used a fun game show theme to bring their routine to life. Both teams put on an absolutely fabulous show, and cemented their legacies in this division by landing on the podium once again.

The third team from Japan, Planets West, took home the fourth spot, and South Coast Freestyle from the USA completed the top five. Champion Dance & Cheer All Stars – Black (Scotland), Pacific Elite Dance – Mystics (Australia), Starz Dance Academy – Elite (USA), JC Dance and Cheer Academy – JC Glitter White (Scotland) and Dance Factory (Mexico) finished in sixth through tenth, respectively.

The Nations Cup award (for the highest score from each country, ranked) also went to Planets, as they were the top score from Japan, and overall. Energizers took home second place for the USA, Champion Dance and Cheer All Stars took home third for Scotland, Pacific Elite Dance – Mystics took home fourth for Australia, and Dance Factory took home fifth for Mexico.

Congratulations to everyone who competed in this amazing division! This was an incredible display of artistry and athleticism! And of course, special congratulations to our new World Champions, Planets!
