Dancer's Edge Has The Edge In Senior Large Jazz
Going in, we knew this division was stacked, but couldn't imagine how incredible the performances would be.

The Senior Large Jazz division took the floor at The 2019 Dance Worlds for the first time in their Preliminary competition on Sunday. Going in, we knew this division was stacked, but couldn't imagine how incredible the performances would be. The competing teams exceeded even the highest of expectations with creativity, technique, and incredibly memorable routines. Ten teams competed in Prelims for five spots in the final round, where the medals will be handed out. Prelims was a tight competition, and Finals will be nuts!
Heading into the medal round in first place is Dancer’s Edge Studio. They put together a remarkable routine that never stopped surprising—and flawlessly so. The opening section, which featured dancers popping up and down rapidly set the tone for an unpredictable routine, and the highlighted group sections had the crowd screaming for more. Even better than the group sections was when they all came together for their turn sequences that should be in a textbook. They will have the edge in Finals if they bring the same precise perfection as they did today.
Coming in second today was Dance Dynamics, with a jam-packed routine that went around the floor so many times that we couldn’t keep track. Their floor use was a perfect example of what every choreographer should aspire to: they took it out, then back in, side to side, then in circles, and then reigned it in for beautiful team moments.
Wing Dance Promotion – Silver Wings Aile (Japan) used their sassy and sharp choreography to notch the third position after Day 1. Their style choice could very well benefit them in the finals, and they will certainly be a threat for any medal.
Rounding out the top 5 were Studio L Dance Co. and Star Performance Centre, two programs known very well at The Dance Worlds. Either one could kick it up a notch and find themselves in a position to fight for a medal in the Finals.
With only five teams in the Finals, it will be a showdown of some very serious big names in the dance world. With some seriously beautiful routines set to take the floor one more time, it will definitely be a show that you shouldn’t miss!
