A True Pop Warner Family: Burlington Patriots
Burlington Pop Warner is back at the Pop Warner National Championship and stronger than ever despite facing a season of adversity.
The Burlington Patriots are back at the 2021 Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championship! Coming from Burlington, Massachusetts, the Patriots continue to prove their success. In 1999, the Patriots brought their first national title back to Burlington and since then have made success a 20-year strong tradition.
Burlington brings the family atmosphere to cheerleading. Head coach Julie Paige started her cheerleading career and fell in love with Burlington Pop Warner in 1986.
" I could not wait to have daughters so they could be cheerleaders."
Julie married William Paige, the president of Burlington Pop Warner, and together had two girls Brooklynn and Monroe! Brooklynn is on the Junior Varsity team and Monroe is on Burlington's Junior Peewee team.
Sadly, in August William passed away from pancreatic cancer. During his illness and after his death, the Burlington Pop Warner family has been supportive of the Paige family. Julie says she is so thankful for their families, volunteers, coaches, and athletes!
Despite Coach Julie, their daughters, and the rest of the Burlington family missing him dearly they come together as one big happy Pop Warner family ready to take on the competition.
"We miss him so much but we know he will have the best seat in the house watching his little ladies compete." - Head Coach Julie Paige
This year's Junior Varsity team has 15 girls competing in the Show Cheer 4 Junior Varsity Medium division! 11 athletes are returning to the program and 3 are brand new.
Coach Paige expressed how amazed she is by the athletes who stepped up to the challenge of being a rookie on a Level 4 team. The team also has ten 8th graders who will be graduating from the program but are looking forward to being a Lady Devil Cheerleader for Burlington High School.
Burlington Pop Warner has competed three times this season and took first place and grand champions. The team practices about three times a week and they are excited to show off their Whitney Houston-themed routine, cartwheel tucks, and fulls!
Coach Paige says she is excited to see the 8th graders compete one last time on the Pop Warner National Championship stage.
Tune in to FloCheer on Tuesday, December 7th to cheer on the Burlington Patriots at 2:29 PM ET as they take the mat in the Show Cheer 4 Junior Varsity Medium division at the 2021 Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championship!
