The Stage Is Set For Senior Large Hip Hop Finals
The stage is set for Senior Large Hip Hop Finals and Legendary Athletics is leading the way in the action-packed division.
Hip Hop is a fan-favorite division whenever dancers convene for a competition, and the teams in Senior Large Hip Hop at The Dance Worlds 2022 had the crowds absolutely roaring in the Coronado Ballroom on Sunday morning. Thirteen teams not only took on the challenge of the Hip Hop division but also made it infinitely more difficult by utilizing a small army of team members to create the visuals to bring in the big scores.
While the entire division was filled with incredible moments from start to finish, the top three teams set a standard that everyone will be chasing in Finals.
A program that always brings the fire, Legendary Athletics, gave the judges the most to get excited about, securing the top spot after Semi-Finals. From the moment they began, outfitted in all black, you knew that Senior Premier meant business. They began with a quiet moment accentuated with intricate arm and foot choreography, and then took off like a bunch of rockets and never looked back. The switch from the quiet, quick opening to the rest of the routine, which was tough as nails, was like a light switch of fierce. The L-A kids brought it for the entire routine, never letting the energy down for a second. They set the pace, and the others will have to try to keep up.

No stranger to The Dance Worlds podium, Pittsburgh Poison All Stars brought the Black Widows to the stage with a predator vs. prey mindset, and they look primed to take out anyone in their way. Their confidence as a team exudes the perfect amount of swag that doesn’t cross the line into arrogance. The Black Widow routine was highlighted by some really interesting moments, including one moment where they made a human carousel come to life, which had the crowd going crazy. After winning the bronze in 2021, they are already in a better spot going into Finals. Just .16 behind the leaders, they will surely be a severe threat for gold.

Also in medal contention, after Prelims is the reigning World Champion Dollhouse Dance Factory. They brought an action-packed routine with a Mortal Kombat theme, letting the competition know that they intend to finish the fight, once again. Utilizing incredible formations and movement all throughout the stage, the DDF dancers took command of every moment that the lights were on them. All of the tumbling tricks they performed were spot on, and the precision with which they hit every moment was spectacular. This was only the first round for the Mortal Kombat crew, and they should not be counted out to repeat as World Champions.

Five more teams popped, locked, shook, and swaggered themselves into the medal rounds: Adrenaline Studio, Star Performance Centre, Dance Precisions, Dance Dynamics, and Champion Legacy. A major highlight out of these Finalists was Star Performance Centre. They used the entire stage as well as any other team, looking like a legitimate army of dancers as they moved through their routine. They will be looking to move up onto the podium and will rely on experience after their silver medal performance in 2021.
The bigger the team, the harder it is to synchronize and blend. The teams competing in Senior Large Hip Hop certainly took on that challenge and passed with flying colors. From the moments the teams performed gutsy tricks altogether, to the incredible formation changes and ripples, there wasn’t a dull moment in this division.
It is sure to be an action-packed Finals on Monday, and you won’t want to miss it as we crown a World Champion at The Dance Worlds 2022.
